Various Kinds of Anxiety Disorders
There are various kinds of anxiety disorders and they affect people to different degrees. Some of these disorders can be minor and are temporary in effect. Others may have side effects like pains and insomnia. Some others can have psychological impact and make it impossible for a person to leave the house without an escort.
Agoraphobia: This is the fear of open spaces. Generally people suffering from this problem are afraid that they are constantly being watched in public places with many people around. That can drive them crazy.
Social Phobia: This is very similar to Agoraphobia, but the reasons for anxiety are different. In this case too people fear going to social events and gatherings due to the fear that they many singled out or may come in spot light. They would never go to places where they are not comfortable with the guests. Such people tend to be introverts and shy.
There are other phobias too that affect the person. It can range from common fears like fear of getting locked in a room, drowning in water, fear of heights, etc. But there are other phobias like fear of red color, snow, etc. Most times these phobias arise due to some major incident in the person’s past and they require elaborate treatment for cure.
Besides the phobias, a common anxiety problem is the Generalized Anxiety Disorder where the person is always under stress or restless. These are people that are suffering from some problems in life that have never been completely solved. There are many sources of such stress and worries. It could be problems at home, or something in the office or just regular media.
Such GAS problems can lead to obsessive compulsive disorders. People become overly critical about cleanliness, washing hands, brushing teeth etc. all these are means to distract them from the main problem and avoid the stress.
Another common anxiety disorder is the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This typically occurs in who have just come out of a severe anxiety attack problem. Though the acute problem is solved, the symptoms linger in form of sleeplessness, flashbacks of old memories, etc. So the symptoms are not very severe but they can still cause some discomfort to the person.

Lastly you could suffer from acute stress problem. This is a temporary stress that happens on immediate reaction to something that is not right. A quick altercation with someone of some bad email or something like that can cause acute stress. Such people exposed to repeated stress may need to be hospitalised for treatment too.
