Some Well Known Anti Anxiety Drugs
Anxiety is a common and prevalent problem in today’s world. There are more and more people who seemed to be stressed at work and are not able to cope up with increasingly challenging work places. As a result there are many people looking for anti anxiety drugs. While there are several brands of these drugs available there are three main drugs which are the main constituents.
Benzodiazepines
This is the most common anti anxiety drug in the market. Some of the popular brands that use this ingredient are Ativan and Valium. These drugs act on the brain directly and reduce the brain activity and the chemicals screted by the brain. As a result, it can bring a general calm to the entire the body. They are excellent drugs and act pretty fast.
But they do have some side effects. Affecting the brain is not without its costs. People who are exposed to prolonged or higher dosages of this drug can exhibit slurred spoken words, loss of memory, drowsiness, memory loss and depression. Some of it is actually the intended impact of the drug. Hence one must be careful while using these drugs.
Prozac

This is a much safer drug to use than Benzodiazepines as it does not lead to addictive symptoms later. One of the reasons for this is because it is not a fast acting drug. It is based on the selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors category of drugs. These are ideal only for panic attacks and for nothing else. They also take a long time to show their impact so they are perfect for long term anxiety treatment. With no immediate reactions, these drugs cannot be used to get he instant high that other drugs give the addicts.
However, continued use can still cause problems like dizziness, weight gain, stomach problems, nausea, etc.
Buspirone

This is the perfect drug for people who have a history of drug abuse with other drugs like Benzodiazepines. Given its mild impact, it can also be used safely with older adults too. IT works on dual action principle. It increases Serotonin and decreases dopamine. High dopamine levels have been observed in people suffering from anxiety attacks so this is really a great pill for that.
While it does not affect the brain or memory over use does have its impacts mainly in the digestive tract. Stomach upset, vomiting, nausea, constipation and diarrhoea are common in people using this drug.
Thus it is clear that every drug has some side effects so it is recommended that they are taken in moderation and under medical supervision.
