Most anti anxiety drugs are chemical that affect the central nervous systems or the nerves directly and help calm them. Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid or GABA is another effective drug used to relax the tensed body or muscles. However, these drugs if overused can also adversely affect the human body.

Valium is the popular name for Diazepam and is a very effective anti-anxiety pill. It is for these reasons that Valium and diazepam in all its forms is considered a prescription drug in many nations. This means that you cannot get it over the counter without a prescription from a licensed practitioner. Also selling the drugs outside the licensed store is a crime.
